Top Shelf Book Club

This book club unites students who have a passion for reading  — and who may be interested in developing the long list for Vic High Reads 2019.

Teacher-librarian Ms. Burleson will give short “book smacks” on 4-5 titles on every alternate week.  The weeks in between are for students to  read a bit of these titles, then discuss their reactions to the books they tried at the subsequent meeting,  Every meeting will include opportunities  to suggest other titles for this year’s theme of Canadian Authors — and to share any other book currently being enjoyed.

We meet Tuesday during lunch break in the table area of the library.  Bring your lunch — and enjoy homemade cookies!  The Top Shelf Club is a great way to connect with readers from different grades, and to get ideas for different book titles and genres that you may not have thought of trying.

Top Shelf group read selections:

April read - a true story

May -- fantasy/magical realism - Alex Award winner!
