Carole Sabiston Textile

Renowned Canadian textile artist Carole Sabiston (1939-2026) donated a very special art piece to Victoria High School in 2025, which was featured on a book providing a retrospective of her work.  This piece hangs near the library entrance adjacent to a reading area.

Carol was a Vic High Alumni from the class of 1956.  She taught art at Oak Bay high school briefly before pursuing art full time in the mid 1970.  Her creations are in private collections and in public places;  several large pieces hang from the walls at Munro’s bookstore on Government Street in Victoria.

Carole intended her work to inspire students toward creative pursuits.  One of the library’s reading areas is arranged  around Carole’s work so that students can enjoy the beauty of this piece and the spirit behind it.
